SMART Goal Setting

In the Bible it says “without a plan people will perish…” we must have a plan of attack. We can’t go to war without weapons, without wisdom and without a plan.

GOAL SETTING
God has given us tools to help us make SMART healthy goals:

Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely

SMART
Specific: If there aren’t specific details on a map you would get lost along the way. Every right or left turn needs to be marked clearly.  Specific details are the key to achieving success.

Measurable: If your measuring stick is too long, your goals will seem too far away. How will you measure your goals?

Attainable: The goals you are setting shouldn’t be so high on the shelf that you need a stool to get them.  You should be able to muster enough strength to stand on your tippy toes in a full stretch.

Realistic: Running a marathon and finishing without training is about as realistic as a man giving birth to a child.  Likewise, lifting tons of weight your first exercise session and then not stretching afterwards bears similar results.

Timely: If it takes 5 years to put on 45 pounds it won’t come off in 6 weeks. With everything there is a season (There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens Ecl. 3:1). The longer your journey takes to regain your health the more likely you are NOT going to go back to where your journey began.

With all that being said, what are your SMART Goals?  What are you specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely goals for the:
Next week?

Next 6 weeks?

Next 3 months?

Next 6 months?

HINT: If you don't write them down and refer to them you are 75% less likely to actually attain them!
